Dr. P. Palanivelu with his doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is trained in various aspects of modern biology both in India and abroad. He has been teaching and training M.Sc. (under UGC-DBT National Biotechnology Training Programme), M.Phil., post-M.Sc and Ph. D students in Madurai Kamaraj University for the past 22 years in the School of Biotechnology. His main interests are purification of restriction enzymes and characterization of enzymes from thermophilic microorganisms. He has published several papers both in national and international journals on separation and analytical techniques on proteins and nucleic acids and also in the areas of Enzymology and Enzyme Technology.

He has published two popular books under 21st century publications which are well received in many Indian Universities. Students find these books useful for preparing for competitive examinations also. His first book, viz., Laboratory manual on “Analytical Biochemistry and Separation Techniques” is in its fourth edition and his second book is in “Enzymes, Ribozymes and DNAzymes” is in its first edition.
